Samba issues with Windows XP

Hi, in my second week of Linuxing

I searched these forums but couldn't find my problem

I am using Samba 3.0.20 on a Slackware 10.2 machine. I set up a new user with the same name as my Windows login as instructed to by this tutorial: http://www.samba.netfirms.com/

Basically I did everything the same, and I think I know where my problem lies. I can browse the "media" folder and all subfolders on my WinXP machine, but I cannot play any of the movies that are stored there. I also cannot access my /home/hamish folder that is created for the user.

Here is what is in my smb.conf file:

Code:
#Global parameters
workgroup = Blake
netbios name = whoracle
encrypt passwords = yes
[homes]
read only = no
browseable = no
[media]
path = "/mnt/media/My Videos"
browsable = yes
public = yes
write list = hamish
Hamish is the logon name for my XP machine, and so I made a Linux login and password identical to it, and a Samba password too.

Any idea as to why I cannot access these files?

Wow. I am an idiot. The folders were rw, but the files were available only to root. Tsk tsk. A quick chmod +rw /mnt/media/My\ Videos/ -R fixed everything. Sorry for the thread!
