I have a linux machine and windows machine. I wanted to share files between these. For this,
I installed samba. configs are same as in default smb.conf. But I can access windows computers
and their files but reverse doesnt work. from windows: following appears-the connection to the machine
doesnt exists.I thought about it and edited onto hosts.allow the lists of win computers as well that I denied in hosts.deny ALL EXCEPT win computers I wnated. Still it diid not work. This is the situation i
am in. In fact, I even tried "vsftp-FTP server" after samba access failed. But ftp could access to itself
but from remote computers (regardless whether remote is another Lin or Win), connection was denied.

Hi!
Please post your smb.conf file here. You may also need to create/add an user in order to connect to a Linux box with Samba from Windows. Many forget that
yeah..you may be true..will soon do it."send.smb.conf file" once i reach office tomm. Hoewever, is not that with "user=share" option in smb.conf ..no smbuser need be added for accessing from windows?
Good question actually. I had to create an user to be able to access it from a WinXP box. It was no problem though. However, my Xbox could browser the files on my Linux box with Samba without a problem.... I can't figure that out
