Samba disconnecting Network Shares

Good Day

I have a samba file server that has all of a sudden started to disconnect network shares.
It has worked great for the last year and I have done no chages to the system.

I get the following in my log file, what does it mean??

[2006/08/23 16:07:59, 0] smbd/negprot.c:reply_nt1(293)
Aug 23 16:07:59 dsaserver smbd[10306]: reply_nt1: smb signing is incompatible with share level security !

Cheers

I think that means what is says.
Could be that you configured your samba server
with security=share
and someone had tried to login with username & password?

Hi

Why would users try in login with a username as it doesnt request one when you open a folder to browse.
also this appears in the log file every 5 minutes??.

The Samaba server is "share" level and shouldnt be prompting for a username & password.

Cheers

did you check your samba config with testparm
#testparm /etc/samba/smb.conf
are there any errors?

Regarding why should somebody use a pw? maybe he wants to connect the share already when windows starts. So he decided to right click My Computer and then selected
Connect Network-Share using another username and password? Why ? Don't know some people do strange things.

Did you maybe upgrade your samba version?
And maybe we will get a hint on that if you set your samba log level to 3 or even to 1?
