I want to install samba on a server so that it may access shares on an NT server. I would like to install the files needed to for this server to operate only as a samba client and not as a samba server.
Is there a method for a client only installation for samba?
Any help would be appreciated.
I remember seeing when I installed RH and MD that there is a samba-client install option. I think that it is named samba-client.xxx.rpm on the cd. You should be able to download it from RH or MD.
From source I am not sure. You could install it and not start smbd and nmbd. This will allow you to connect to Windows shares, without sharing anything.
