Samba against ADS

Hello all

im not sure ive done things right

My samba is supposed to run against our w2k DC for authetication

when I use "wbinfo -u" it print the following list

username1
username2
username3
username4
username5
username6
username7
etc....

in stead of what it does in any of the guides ive read, however how to find the errors or why have been erm hard?

DOMAIN\username1
DOMAIN\username2
DOMAIN\username3
DOMAIN\username4
DOMAIN\username5
DOMAIN\username6
DOMAIN\username7
etc....

So now I ask here... what is wrong or what can I do to find out?

In previous versions of Samba you could set the logging level in smb.conf all the way up to debug level (lots of output). I would imagine it's still available in the newest release so check the Samba documentation on syntax and how to enable it.

The logging output is usually directed to where the rest of your system logs go but is configurable. Find your syslog log and your samba logs are probably close by. (after you enable them of course)

From the wbinfo -u list I get
"validUsername" without the "DOMAIN\" that is a winbindd configuration problem or?

Cause in my samba.log I find this entry
"[2005/09/13 11:41:12, 3, pid=22781, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)] smbd/sesssetup.c:reply_spnego_kerberos(179)
Ticket name is [validUsername@DOMAIN]"

And this
"[2005/09/13 11:41:12, 1, pid=22781, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)] smbd/sesssetup.c:reply_spnego_kerberos(250)
Username DOMAIN\validUsername is invalid on this system"
