samba - accessing windows share in linux
hi everyone,
i have already configured my samba and its running pretty well though i cant access the files i have shared from a windows xp box. i have tried disabling the inbuilt windows xp firewall but still cant access it. please help me out.

Try this
go to your toolbar tools-->map network drives-->connect_as_different_user
here enter your samba username and samba password.
What error message are you getting?

i mean i cant mount the windows shared docs to my linux system. I have used $smbmount //winxp/documents /mnt/ntwkfs -o U username=mike and $mount -t smbfs. but still no response. thanx

What error message do you get when you do the mount?
Are you logged in as root?

Is your command syntax similar to this:
Code:
mount -t smbfs -o workgroup=workgroup,username=whatever,password=whatever //<ip address of windows box>/<share_name> /<mount point>

thanx guys, my mount command is the same as the one u showed me, when i execute the command it requests for
password since i dint put the password option, then it takes long before bringing the error saying it cannot connect to the windows host.

thanx,
yes i can access the samba share from another windows machine. But still i can't mount that windows windows share to my linux it gives me error. here is the error
[root@linuxserver /]# mount -t smbfs -o workgroup=mikehome,username=mike,password=ekim-memphis //10.0.0.34/share /mnt/shr
