Samba.
I have four pcs in my house, one win98se, two win xp pro, and one RH 9.0. Have a lan set up , i can access all my other pcs from my linux box. But cant access my linux box through my other pcs.
Plus, when I access all of my other pcs, from my linux box.....I can see shared resources, and access them.... but when i go about doing other things and go to network servers, I get this error......Couldn't display "smb:///", because Nautilus cannot contact the SMB master browser. Check that an SMB server is running in the local network. I can then access, but I have to restart my linux box....... Still new to linux.. Could there be something I'm missing , or not doing? Any help would be appreciated.....And thank you in advance...... |
seems like your firewalling software inside RH9 is blocking the traffic coming from the pc's-
try to disable the firewalling and check out (' /etc/init.d/rc.firewall stop ', maybe ?) |
You can also disable the firewall thru linuxconf
Download it here if you don't have it: http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/se...uery=linuxconf |
or maybe here is better:
http://www.solucorp.qc.ca/linuxconf/ |
Thanks.......
Thanks, pablob .....that was it.......thanks alot.....i was trying all kinds of things....didnt even think , it was the firewall........interfering with my lan......Thanks, alot.......
Thanks, for everyones help.........:D |
