samba 3.0.23 and active directory (ads)

Has anyone had trouble with the latest version of samba 3.0.23 or 3.0.23a not playing well with Active Directory for authentication?
We are running Gentoo and can run 3.0.22-r3 with no problems but when I try to bring 3.0.23 or 3.0.23a up, authentication starts failing. I have checked the configuration files against the samba release notes and don't find anything there that would cause this problem.
Thank you for any help.

What is the error generated? or is there one?

Samba Woes
Wish you would have posted your commands to connect to AD...

If you are using mount -t ntfs blah blah blah blah, then I would suggest you change to mount -t cifs blah blah blah blah and see what that does for you...
