Running Ubuntu 14.04. Trying to access previously encrypted folder.

I was using Cryptkeeeper to get into an encrypted "lock" folder. I upgraded to 14.04 and I can't access that folder being Cryptkeeper won't work anymore. Is there a way to access my lock folder without Cryptkeeper or another application similar to it? Hell, even getting a fix for Cryptkeeper would be swell too.

Can you explain what this means? What exactly did you try and how did your system respond? "Cryptkeeper won't work anymore" is very vague so it's hard to offer any suggestions about how to fix it.

jdkaye,

When I was running 12.04, I would click on Cryptkeeper and a small key looking thing would appear on the top of my screen near my network connections and volume. Then, I would click it and enable access to the folder it was encrypting.

In 14.04, I click it, it doesn't appear on the top of my screen, and I get an error message that says:

"The application Cryptkeeper has closed unexpectedly"

I'm not exactly loyal to Cryptkeeper, but I put all the files in that folder in my Pictures directory. So I want to get into it to see if when I copied everything over to my external hard drive, installed 14.04, and moved everything back over to my internal hard drive, if I still have all those files. They're kind of irreplaceable.

But you did keep copies of those irreplaceable files on your external hard drive, correct? Does Cryptkeeper use a gpg method of encrypting your files? In any event is there an alternative way of decrypting the file if Cryptkeeper doesn't do the job? Do you now have a newer version of Cryptkeeper? If so, have you checked the documentation for changes in the way things work?

See, I didn't actually back it up. I honestly forgot about it. I'm just in hopes that it's still there. I put the lock folder in my Pictures directory and copied that entire thing.

I don't know what method Cryptkeeper uses to encrypt the files. The question I was asking is if there is an alternate way to get to the files. I don't care if it's Cryptkeeper or not. I don't have a newer version of Cyrptkeeper.

Sorry, I know nothing about cryptkeeper. I imagine they may have some details on their website. You might have a look.
