Running third party tools on Ubuntu which are known to work on Fedora

I have recently moved to Ubuntu from Debian. However, the third party tools that were working fine in Fedora, fail to run here. All my binaries are located in one Dir, myTools. The attributes of all binaries are correct when I check them with ls -l command. Even if I run the command from the same directory I get an error. For example,

cd myTools,
./myPtool

I get an error,

bash: /home/myTools/myPtool, no such command or directory.

Am I missing some thing?

assuming the permissions are the same (and you can exec in that dir) and that the owners are the same, the last thing I run into sometimes is this little gotcha:

Is /home mounted noexec?

Regardless, you *can* do the following, though, right?

Code:

bash /home/myTools/myPtool

Of course there is no guarantee that these should work on a different system, anyway. If the tools are legit binaries they may be linked against things that you don't have installed on the new system. Or incompatible ELF format (same architecture, etc?)

No I can not even do this:

bash /home/myTools/myPtool
