running a i386 app on a ppc (debian 3.1) using qemu

Im running Debian 3.1 ppc on a 2002 tibook. My goal is to run a i386 application (namely ventrilo-server, but this will help with any other program i'd like to run also) on my ppc. I've installed qemu using apt-get and it looks to me like its running fine. The thing is, im lost beyond all belief in understanding how to use it. Any help in just using it would be great.

Here's a link to where you can download the i386 version of the ventrilo server http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php

Like i said above, any help on using this would be great, (if you'd like to suggest another method besides qemu, that would be welcome as well)

-thanks
