Hello,

My config : Debian 4.0.R2 without GUI (just console mode install).

I have a problem to administrate rTorrent by web gui. I read on a post that nTorrent can be the solution.
I have download : http://code.google.com/p/ntorrent/, but i don't know how do i do after...

Someone to help me ?

If you're using Debian, first check and see if nTorrent is in the Apt repositories:

Code:

# apt-get install ntorrent

There are no result with the "apt-get install" command for nTorrent.

Okay - I just downloaded nTorrent on my laptop; it's actually, surprisingly easy to run. All you need, on your end, is to install a Java runtime environment (check in Aptitude for the standard JRE - I set up contrib and non-free repos in my /etc/apt/sources.list file).

After you download nTorrent-bin-20071220.tar.bz2, go into the directory where you downloaded it, and do the following:
Code:

To untar the package...
$ tar xjf nTorrent-bin-20071220.tar.bz2

To run it...
$ java -jar nTorrent.jar

And that's it!

Hello,
Ok, i will get JRE. But is it possible to run without X Window System ? (i only works in console mode)
I would like to manage my torrent with http, to another computer (with web gui).

If nTorrent doesn't complain when you try to run it in the CLI (without an X server started), then - evidently - it also has text-based support.

Unfortunately, I haven't messed around with HTTP-based torrent management.

nTorrent is a GUI for rTorrent, so if you only work in console mode, simply use rTorrent itself.
