rTorrent issues
Hi
I am trying to get rTorrent to start on boot or at least as a process that runs in the background and doesn't rely on an active user session. Situation: I have Ubuntu server with minimal install, samba server, ftp server, soon to be web server... No windows env / x server at all I am trying to get rtorrent to run so that I can use this as a dl server too. No user is ever logged into the box - i always login via ssh from my mac. rTorrent is working fine when I run it in a terminal, have setup the folder it monitors for .torrent files, etc etc I have added the script to /etc/init.d/rtorrentinit Run the following command Code:
update-rc.d rtorrent defaultsCode:
sudo /etc/init.d/rtorrentinit startcannot find readable session directory from config /home/torrnt/.rtorrent.rc. check permissions The Permissions as far as I can see are correct! So what is the problem? Please let me know if you need any more info Thanks G |
Shouldn't you add the startup script to rc.local? It runs it as root so there is no need to add 'sudo' to it.

Does it not need to be in init.d to start on boot?
Not entirely sure this will solve the problem anyway? I have also setup an account (rtorrnt) that I have used in the rtorrentinit script Code:
user=rtorrnt-rwxr-xr-x 1 torrnt torrnt 3565 2008-02-15 19:28 ../torrnt/.rtorrent.rc What now? G |
OK...
Looks i have it running Will test to make sure ll is working and will need to read up a little more about screen to get that working. Ta G |
