rsync->ssh port
word to your mother

I' ve got a small {config?} problem. I need to use rsync to connect to a remote machine whose rsync and ssh ports are non-standard. I can tell rsync to --port=xxxx but how do I tell rsync to tell ssh to use port xxxx on the remote machine? thanks in advance

pfffffffft. nevermind. sorry. I just thought about the fact that I can specify --rsh='ssh -p xxxx -l xxxxxx' to rsync. Sorry :)!

Found what I think is a more elegant solution here

In ~/.ssh/config put:
Host remote
user gary
port 222
... if you wish to use 'remote' as an alias for ''

Alternatively, just use:
user gary
port 222
... if you don't wish to use 'remote' as the alias.
