RSync genrates error "connection refused"

Hi,

I am trying to synchronise a folder in my /home directory to a secondary hard drive mounted as /media using the rsync app. I have gone through the documentation and can't find what I am doing wrong.

I type the command :

rsync -r *.filename pcname:media/

I get the following error :

Connection refused.
Connection unexpectedly closed
Error in rsync protocol data stream (Code12)

You are unnecessarily using a syntax that implies the target of the transfer is on a remote machine (i.e., pcname.

Search the man page for the "USAGE" section. Here is the relevant text a couple of paragraphs down:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can also use rsync in local-only mode, where both the source and
destination don't have a ':' in the name. In this case it behaves like
an improved copy command.
