If you have a Linux box with Apache, PHP and MySQL installed, I recommend
Feed on Feeds .
I looked for literally months to find a Linux RSS reader application which didn't give me any hassles and
just worked. Straw, Liferea, NewsMonster, others - in my experience, they all either crashed, didn't work, required tons of difficult-to-satisfy dependencies, etc. etc...
At least Feed on Feeds is basically a set of PHP scripts with a MySQL backend, so if you have a working Apache setup with PHP/MySQL, it's very easy to install and get working. I can also access FoF from any computer on my home LAN, and if you know some PHP it's a fairly customisable application.
If you aren't running a LAMP setup and want more of a desktop, GTK-type program, I suppose you could try
Liferea , which I probably would've stuck with if it didn't crash so much on my machine. (Try it anyway - YMMV.)
Hope this helps,
Tim
