rpm hangs while reading/processing headers after a forced removing of files

I removed kdenetwork on rh9 with --force option since I needed to replace some files I did modify them;I forced because I should have removed at first kdenetwork-devel,which depended on the former package

After that operation,or maybe while rpm was working,I reused rpm but it hanged!
I see rpm when performs every operation that involves the reading of headers,or their processing, such as install,upgrade,remove...as well as by gui it hangs.
I'm afraid of having ruined the rpm db
I have been advised to use redcarpet but I'd like to get my rpm at work...

...HELP!!!
