rpm freezes up while installing as root
I realised when i enter in as root to install an rpm package, the terminal just stops....
for example when i su-m to root and i cd and keyed in rpm -ivh aspell-0.50.3-16.i386.rpm, the cursor just goes down to the next sentence and nothing comes out.... but when i install using a user, there will be failed dependencies error messages that pop out.... does anyone here know the solution to this problem? |
You might have a bad rpm. Try redownloading the rpm and installing again.

hmm....but this happened to virtually all my rpms that i downloaded?

dependencies or corrupted

OK- I know someone is going to give me hell for doing it this way, and yes I am a newbie but, it worked for me.
I just got done with a rpm that would not force install with su. I logged in as root, tried again and it worked great. I know you shouldn't be logging in as root but, I was desperate. |
