rpm cannot find li

hi!

I'm having problems installing giftoxic rpm. Everytime I try to install it, it tells me:
gift is needed by giftoxic-0.0.10-1.1.fc3.rf.i386
libgift.so.0 is needed by giftoxic-0.0.10-1.1.fc3.rf.i386

But I've already installed gift into /usr/local/bin. libgift.so.0 can be found in /usr/local/lib. I've added /usr/local/lib to ld.so.conf and ran ldconfig. Then I tried to install it again. But it still can't find the library. What else am I missing?

Thanks!

Need more info.
What command are you using?
What do you get when you run this command ' rpm -qa gift* '?
Are all files have the same version status?

running rpm -qa gift* outputs nothing. I did not use the rpm when installing gift. I compiled from source then installed. I want to use the rpm distribution of giftoxic so I won't have to install the gtk+ devel packages.

Although it is quite easy to install gtk devel packages since I'm using fc4. The packages are in the cd. I tried it once. Running configure outputs an error. it says it cannot find gtk+-2.0 even though I already installed it. Maybe I'll tweak the configure.ac a bit.
