Hi,
I installed RealPlayer 10 and didn't receive any errors. Although when I attempt to start the program, I get the bouncing icon and then it disappears. I was wondering if anyone else had a similiar experience?
Yep, I tried running as "root" with the same results...
Oddly enough I tried to uninstall it and got a message stating not installed. I then ran install again and got a message already installed[??] So now I'm at a loss - not sure what to do[?]. I may have to take some adverse tactics...
Just for grins I installed the Helix rpm [using the automated rpm utility], and have the same issue. No errors were listed during the install. The Helix bouncing icon is seen for several seconds and then disappears[??]. I've tried running it as both "root" and "user" with the same results.
A concern I have is if Helix/RP are sensitive to which sound driver in KDE is being used. I have a sound driver issue when logged in as root. Oddly enough the sound works fine when logged as "user" [?].
I guessing that the bin file I used originally only partially installed because I have a new real10 icon in the select menu. And perhaps there's a program install log that contains an entry listing this program[?]. This would explain not being able to install the program. Do you happen to know if there is such a file and where I can find it?
When I run "whereis or realplay" in terminal the cursor comes back up as if I just pushed enter.
I've even tried tried running yum [after updating yum.conf to use livna] and it comes back with "nothing to do".
I'll try removing all traces of realplayer and starting from square 1 again.
