Routing the speakers output to mic input

Hi everyone,
first of all, sorry for my english, i'm italian.
I'm trying to record sounds from my speakers and my microphone contemporaneously. I can't simple connect the output of the audio card to the input 'cause i want to hear what i'm recording and 'cause i'm using a webcam to record (so the microphone is via USB). Well, the question is: can I copy the output of the master channel of the audio card and route it in the channel of the USB camera microphone? If yes, how?
I'm running on Slackware 14 and i'm using ALSA. If you need more informations, do not hesitate to ask them.
Thanks in advance,
Francexi

p.s. i've got the vague impression of being wrong the section, didn't I?

You might be able to do this with jack (that's "jack" as in an audio jack for a patch-bay). It's designed for rerouting audio between outputs and inputs. I've used it a couple of times; it works very nicely.

http://jackaudio.org/

There's a Slackbuild for it: http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14...onnection-kit/

If use the Slackbuilds search, you will find several other related tools for jack.

ok, i've downloaded and installed jackaudio and the realtive qt backend. But when I try to make a connection in the Patchbay section the only client either in output and in input is Midi Through and the only plug Midi Through port-0

Run alsamixer and see what connections it recognizes.

I think that this page offers a pretty good tutorial: http://linuxcritic.wordpress.com/200...-in-slackware/

alsamixer shows 2 cards, the HD Intel (I suppose is audio card) that contains lots of channels everyone to the max level(the classic ones: Master, PCM, mic etc.etc.), and USB camera, that have "capture"(level at max) and "auto gain control"(without any bar)

I'm afraid I can't help. When I used Jack, it was with RecordMyDesktop and it worked just fine. I think what you are doing is much more complex than I am qualified to help with.

I found some links I think might be useful.

An article in Linux Journal: http://www.linuxjournal.com/node/1004080

I found a couple of tutorials on YouTube.

I wish I knew more, but I hope these help.

solved the problem. I've forgot of start the jack daemon(<---idiot). Now the patchbay shows me a lot of plug and I don't know which choose. But the biggest problem ('cause the first can be resolved going to attempt) is the fact that if a sound is running I can't start the audio server (that returns me "Audio device is Busy") and if the server is running i can't start any sound for the same cause(returns "device is busy")

I floundered around myself when I first used Jack until I realized I had to turn it on! Don't be too hard on yourself.

As for the rest, I'm afraid I'm stuck as outlined at my previous post.
