I don't know if it can be installed from floppy but maybe you can build in a temporary cd drive? IPCop can handle 3 connections, so 1 to the ISP, 1 to the home network and 1 to the DMZ (DeMilitairized Zone), so that's possible...

DMZ, demilitarized zone, yeah, any computer in the DMZ doesn't get any protection. If you want all your computers to have protection, then simply don't put anything in the DMZ :)

or you can just edit the iptables configuration for the DMZ manually so enabling security yourself, however why want one computer apart from the rest of the network? if you don't want anyone to access that computer you can always apply a simple iptables filter on that pc instead of separating them with a router...

I dont want to seperate it to another network but the first computer is my sisters and it is in the same room as the router and the other computers are in my room and i dont have a spare switch to place in my sisters room. Therefore it would be much easier to have one nic on the router to my sisters computer and one for my switch/computers.

ah in that case you can place the switch in the room where the router is, although you need to lay down all cables to your own room, wich is not a very 'clean' solution, so you need to manually change the IPCop's iptables configuration script. If you're familiar with iptables it's not that hard, as IPCop uses different chains for the NIC's I guess you can just link the DMZ chain to the 'normal' network chain with a few modifications... I have a spare IPCop box with 3 NIC's ready for my upcoming ADSL connection, I can check some modifications if you want

hmmm I'll check out the configuration of IPCop again tonight, maybe you can just configure it to use 1 ISP and 2 home networks instead of 1 ISP, 1 network and 1 DMZ.
