Rotate a 2D object in 3D space.

Hello, I'm playing around with Gimp, and now I'm trying to found a way to rotate an part of an image in 3D perspective space, but Can't seem to find such a function.
Is there an application/plugin or other way of doing this in ((K)ubuntu)-Linux?

tools > transform tools > perspective

you can create an effect like you've rotated the selection wrt the facing plane.
the matrix representation supplied allows you to select any x-y-z orientation for the plane of the image.
