I have successfully installed Rosegarden with the Planet CCRMA repo. It starts fine and everything, except for one small problem: NO SOUND!!! I installed JACK after I installed Rosegarden, once I found out that it's required. Under the Rosegarden configuration, I checked off that I wanted JACK to start when Rosegarden does, and that didn't create any problems, but it also didn't create any sound. Also, in the configuration it says, "MIDI working, no audio," or something like that. Another really annoying thing is that once I start JACK, the computer freezes if I try to do something after I exit out of Rosegarden. By the way, I am using Fedora Core 4.
Amarok is a media player. Rosegarden is a MIDI and Music Notation editor. They are nothing like each other, except that they both produce stuff from your sound card.
Exactly. It won't. Also, you don't exactly need JACK, it is just recommended for less audio latency. NoteEdit and Denemo are possible alternatives to Rosegarden, if you need more emphasis on score and less on MIDI.
