root disk backup and restore

Dear All,

I am evaluating to do (/) root backup and restore in case of Root disk failed. Assuming apart from OS nothing is installed on this disk.

Assuming the OS installation is done in / file system. Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda3 32242388 19962076 10642488 66% /
tmpfs 50789060 8 50789052 1% /dev/shm
/dev/sda1 1035660 40104 942948 5% /boot

May I know what is the procedure to do the backup. In case of disk crash, after replacing new disk how I can restore the backup to new disk.

I am heaving more than 20 servers and want to make a standard procedure for backup and restore.

Many Thanks in Advance.

Regards.

Harpreet

That depends on where you are backing up to. Tape/disk/network?

For simple image backup of the drive. I suggest Clonezilla Live.
