Ripping Software

Running Linux Mint 18.0 (Sarah) on a HP laptop. Hello All, Looking for software that will rip DVDs to an audio & video folders to copy to a blank DVD. Tried Handbrake, but can't convert the m4k.

All suggestions welcomed.

You can also try dvdbackup, it's a command-line app (but there are GUI frontends available for it, as well).

this subject may or may not be getting close to the " no cracking" bit in the site rules
but this might be legal where you live ( or not)

you want the VOB files from a dvd ? right

there is also Dvdrip - perl frontend for transcode

Quote:
dvd::rip is a full featured DVD copy program written in Perl. It provides an easy to use but feature-rich Gtk+ GUI to control almost all aspects of the ripping and transcoding process. It uses the widely known video processing swissknife transcode and many other Open Source tools.
this should be in your OS's repos

I had a PPA for handbrake that provided codecs for exporting to mk format,
where the .deb version did not.

Have you tried adding a handbrake PPA and installing a newer version?

You do know that people use DVD discs/players for home videos and such, right? Unless the user explicitly mentions cracking encryption or copying protected material, I don't see any reason to worry about it.

JohnVV is correct in mentioning. LQ tries to maintain a business professional level forum. I have been debating on closing this thread.
