rinetd needs to be restarted

hi,

i have centos 5.2 server where rinetd service is configured for redirecting ssh (port 22) traffic on some other machine on same port 22.

my rinetd.conf has this :

192.168.4.32 22 192.168.4.236 22

This usually works fine but sometimes it does not give password prompt like :
ssh ruchirb@192.168.4.32 does not give password prompt and we can not login.
The server is not loaded at all. i have to kill the rinetd service and again start it. then it starts working fine again. i dont understand why this happenes?how to prevent this? there is no log for rinted..and syslog also does not coney anything

Well, the default server on RHEL/Centos is xinetd; I've never heard of rinetd.
Maybe you could use that instead or at least take some ideas for it from the manual section http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_boo...rappers-xinetd

if it is a service you can use the standard start/stop/restart features, but I'm not sure how this rinetd configured. rinetd does have log, at least you can configure it, see this page: http://www.boutell.com/rinetd/. I suggest you also to try another tool for ssh redirecting.
