RH8 xwindow video card config?

whats the command where I can config the xwindow videocard and monitor? I tried xconfigure, configurex, etc... I mess up the video card setup during install and now everything is fuzzy when xwindow starts. Also how do I get RH to boot into text mode instead of window made only? thanks
