RH Linux AS3.0 vs RH Linux EL 3.0

We are buying a Linux Server (32 bit) for installing 2 applications. One application vendor requires Redhat EL3.0 where as the other mentioned Redhat AS 3.0

From Redhat site, it appears that AS 3.0 is a superset of EL3.0. Am I correct in my assumption? Can I assume that if an app runs on EL3.0, then it will run on AS 3.0, and not vice-versa?

RH E(nterprise) L(inux) (V3) is a release series of 3 options, WS (wkstn) AS (advanced server), ES (enterprise server).

AS works well with oracle. We run AS on all of our BIG DB servers. I have loaded both AS and ES and cannot tell the difference. I would guess it is kernel parms and default package load ...but that is a GUESS.

I would also guess both AS & ES would run both programs. One might be easier to set up or tweak than the other. But your best bet is to ask the vendors thhis question.
