Retrieve password and username

i installed WUBI and i forgot the username and password that are asked to enter in before logging to ubuntu desktop.
what is the differnce between root password and this password ?

Root is like Super Admin account, you can login with root if you have the password and reset the user password after login with root account.

In some cases, i have found, by default you can't log into Gnome Desktop (Example) with root unless you set that option. If that is your case you need to switch over to terminal, log in as root and then reset the password for that account. Then you should be able to switch over back to Gnome Desktop (Example) and login with that user.
