what do you get when you enter the dig command for your host? And can you get to the web server from a local browser using 127.0.0.1 ?

ok, so the DNS and web server are on the same machine and presumably you are trying to access your web sever only from within the local network (192.168....) or from on the same machine, right?

You should be able to bring up a browser on that same machine and retrieve web pages using either the host name, 192.168.24.6 and 127.0.0.1. If not, I'd suspect a web server configuration issue. Also try netstat -ln to see if the web server is up and listening on port 80.

Check the DNS caveats article at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.1/dns-caveats.html -- that might help solve your problem.
