Question Resolution issue with Quake 3

I was screwing around with the resolutions on my Quake 3 install... I upped it to the highest possible resolution and hit enter... now I have nothing on my screen but a bunch of garbage. In other words the resolution was too much and it has screwed up the display... I have to hard reboot to get back to the desktop... I tried reinstalling quake, but after the reinstall the display is still at that setting!

Where are the settings for the video game resolution so I can trash them? guesses?

There's a quake3 directory in your home directory (don't remember if it's .quake3 or quake3 actually but I don't see why it should be hidden)
That's where your config is saved, delete q3config.cfg and the next time Q3 starts up it will generate a new one with default settings, from there you can toy with the settings again.

That directory is called .q3a and resides in your home directory, yes. Each user gets his
own to keep the config/maps/mods management easier.

I found a way to reset the resolution and everything else from the pull down command line by typing: cvar_restart

I could not see the command line... but all you have to do is type ~ when you know your at the main menu... then type quit to shut the program down from the command line. What a hack
