You haven't indicated the windows problem, or which windows you are using. If the filesystem is NTFS, then most likely not because you may not have write access to the windows partition. If the windows filesystem is mounted, you could use the linux find command to locate files.

With the fat32 file system, you can have write access to the drive, if the drive is mounted with r/w access.

Dear friend plz explain detaild ,i cannt able 2 completly understand

What is your distribution?

Some Linux OS mount all filesystems but FAT32, NTFS not -rw not rewritable ...
(if you only need to read and search for files ... -ro readonly is what you need)

but normaly you would need to open a console as user root
(if not done allready:
mkdir /windows
mkdir /windows/C
)

mount -ro /dev/hda1 /windows/C

From there on you should be able to browse - and search the folder/partition i.e. with konqueror
Only root can write on Fat32 (by default)

This guy speaks english poorly. From what I understand he installed linux, and didn't know that it would erase his fat32 partition.

Now that Linux has been installed, he wants Windows back because he doesn't like it.

(for sajjadc to read)
Made in to as simple english as I could:
You speaks english poorly. From what I understands you install linux, and did not know it would erase fat32 partition.

Now that Linux has been installed, you do not like. You want Windows back, but no get it back. Right?

Hmmm.... I actually do not think that jon_k was trying to offend you. But if his assumption is correct we are perfectly able to help you.

I think though that I understand what you mean. Could please clarify what you mean by "search utility" and why it is damaged?
