I've always had to remove pulseaudio to make my sound reliable. Now I'm running Fedora 18 and I have not done that. I've been putting it off for quite a while now but now I'm on the verge of doing that but I'd like the general concensus on doing that now that it has been around for several years. Maybe it is more configurable now but should a person have to configure it with every install? "lspci" gives this pertinent line:
Code:
01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1)
And running alsamixer also shows this:
Card: HDA Intel
Chipset: Realtek ALC269VB
Which is the card that is active now, but pulseaudio recognizes one or the other, changing when I start X. I've tried changing back to one then the other cards to no avail. So I'm ready to remove pulseaudio, I just want some input from others first. And yes I realize we are supposed to be helping develop packages but it has been a long time since pulseaudio was introduced and at first I tried to cooperate with this but it just seemed wasted effort when Alsa has always been just fine - at least for me and I've used only that with 5 or 6 totally different machines. Thanks for any and all input.
