Remote Finger Change (CHFN)

I have a Samba PDC system and I need a command or something that changes the finger information (Full Name) of a user on my authentication box from any of my other Fedora 6 boxes. I've heard a little about finger-server, but can that change the information too?

Thanks,

IMO the finger software is one of the atrocities that undermines the security of Unix and work alike operating systems. It's bad enough when it is used locally but when the finger server is enabled you are inviting people to hack your system. I doubt that very many people use the GECOS fields in Unix. I forget what GECOS stands for but it refers to the fields in the passwd file that you access with the finger software. Since you clearly have no interest in security you could use the rexec command to change the information remotely.

Thanks. This is just our home network. I felt like it might be useful for us to use a domain login system, so I set up a Fedora box to do just that. Well...things grew a little. I integrated a PHP-based login system for my website, and I needed a way to change the full name from my web server on my samba server. This helps a lot. Thanks so much!
