Remote Desktop Connection / XWin32 Substitute

I currently have SuSE 9.0 loaded on my desktop, and I am looking for a way to do remote desktop to the server the CS dept. at our school uses. Currently I use XWin32 on my laptop to get on to it, and I would like to know if there is a Linux app that will let me accomplish the same thing.

I'm a noob, I'm slowly plodding through learning Linux, and I don't really know much about XWin32, or if there's even a way to do it in linux, however, it would certainly be convieneint.

Only technical info I got is that it connects using XDMCP mode of Query, and the host name of the computer I connect to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

VNC. Get them to install the Windows VNC server on the server, or any Windows machine that can access the server. Then use the very likely installed VNC client. Search here for VNC, and visit

will depend what you want to do..

XWin32 allows for a remote login (ie a graphical telnet session), where as VNC only lets you look at an existing "over the shoulder" view of an active X-Session.

I use an app similar to XWin32 called "Exceed" from HummingBird, is a lot easier to configure than X-Win32..

Exceed is avail from http://www.hummingbird.com ...

Man... Exceed costs right at a billion dollars...
And XWin32 is about half that.
