Remote Administration Access in IPCop not working?

Hi!

According to the IPCop manual, if you want to control IPCop remotely you have to add port 445 (https) on the external access. I tried doing as instructed but nothing is happening. I also tried to add port 222 but the same thing occurred. When you port scan the machine, it says that the ports 445 and 222 are closed. How do I open this port so that I can access IPCop remotely?

wb8erj,

Found a solution on your problem. In IPCop, enable SSH and port-forwarding. And on the external access be sure that you allow port 222. On remote location (your laptop connected to other network), type in the following:

ssh root@ipcopserver -N -L 445:localhost:445

In your webbrowser, what you need to do is type in

http://localhost:445

and there you go..

I just hope IPCop will enable remote access even without doing the SSH Tunneling.
