Hi! we currently have a machine in a development DMZ with only the specified ports open 80, 443, 25 to exchange and 22 for remote administration. The issue is that Sendmail takes forever to relay messages to exchange. Sometimes 30 minutes for just issuing a mail -s "test" to
someone@mydomain.com takes 30 minutes for the message to arrive. Since we don't use DNS I have created a host file with my my mailservers referenced in the file. I then modified the DS value of the /etc/mail/sendmail.cf to point to the entry in the hosts file. However nothing seems to work and I am going mad!!!. I do notice that it tries to relay to root@localhost rather than send to my host entry of imailgw.mydomain.com

Any insight would be great. I was told to modify the queue interval but don't know what exactly that is.
