First off thanks for reading my post. This is a funny story, I recently came across a copy of IBM's OS/2 Warp 4.0, and I want to install on my machine. The problem is I already have Mandriva 2005 LE and Windoze on there. First, is there an option in Mandriva to make a boot floppy, or will Mandriva 2005 LE reinstall grub? Second, when I reinstall Grub, will it recognize the OS/2 install automatically or will I have to figure out the execute path for OS/2? I know like NOONE uses OS/2 any more, but if anyone has used warp with linux before or can help me that would be nice.

First off, Mandriva uses Lilo by default, not grub.
The good news is that it should be rather painless to restore the Linux boot loader or even restore the Windows mbr if you ( gasp! ) should decide to remove Linux.

Boot up with Mandriva CD#1 and press F1
Then, type: rescue
That will bring up a small menu with
Re-install Boot Loader ( Linux ) as the first option.

That may automatically detect any new operating systems. If not, you can edit the /etc/lilo.conf after booting into Mandriva. Don't forget to run the command: lilo after editing that file.

I multibooted warp and windows and linux for many years, but it was a long long time ago. Installing warp these days is not easy. I tried a while ago and even with the updates there were a lot of issues... If it's a newish machine maybe you should look at running warp in some sort of emulator. The bootloader and all is not going to like the new big disks much... If you have an old machine it will install better, of course... New machine. Not going to be too successful or easy...

Thank you for your responses guys. I looked at it, and I have to have a bios memory tweak to run OS/2, and I would have to put in on my 160gb hd. I dont think it will work real well that way, since this computer is newer (AMD 2500+ XP Athlon 512mb DDR, a 80gb hd and a 160gb hd) so I decided to put it on an older P1-166 I had laying around and it seems to work well with linux. Its fustrating that though when I stuck a new ethernet card in it and theres no drivers for it, but I suppose thats what I get for using an old, now unsupported OS. Too bad it was way superior to windoze. At anyrate atleast I can emulate some older DOS/Win3.1 apps effectively on it.

And who knows, maybe you can find some older cards on e-Bay (3coms,
or, even better, IBM ones ... )

OS/2 is still my favourite OS when it comes to GUI (not that I've
used OS/2 in over 4 years)... :/ ... the only hardware old enough
to use it happens to be my linux-router/firewall ;}

Look for an older ne2000 compatible or 3com... Maybe an ISA NIC would be best...

WPS was the best. All it needed was some virtual desktops

Heh - and you could have those with ObjectDesktop, which was
quite a nice extension. *sigh* ... the good old days ;) I only
threw out my WARP, VisualAge C++ and UDB stuff a couple of weeks
ago - and boy, was my heart bleeding :/
