Sub: Now I have a question regarding Sound cards drivers installation in Linux Advanced Server 3.0
Now I installed a RHE LAS3.0 recently.... I didn't found any sound ... I would like to install sound drivers for AC97 sound card... I don't know which sound card driver is to be install in linux for AC97 sound card? ...
Thats why i download "VIA RH9 Audio Driver V0.82A.gz "
I unpack this one with gunzip but after that i am hanging here for next process... what to do? is there any process for it... if so... plz mail the entire options for it...
this is the file which i gunzipped "VIA RH9 Audio Driver V0.82A.gz".(it is in red color before gunzip) . After gunzip i found the above file is converted in to
"VIA RH9 Audio Driver V0.82A" (it is black color after gunzip") and i didn't found any tar file....
where could i find that tar file.... actually this process i running under /root directory....what to do ... i am hanging here...
sorry for late reply.... How can i configurewithout tar file .... I didn't found any tar file after gunzipped the file...... after gunzipp the hole folder looks like a normal file(in black color)... what to do next...

what kind of file did u get?
did u get any folder? if so verify that folder for any install,configure or make files.
execute ./configure,make,make install if u find them

After Unzipp i got a file with similar name (file name which is used to unzipp .gz) but not with .gz extension... and i check the properties of this file then i found that ti is of file unknown type.... what to do....

Y ah I am on the way... Just I downlaod ALSA Driver named "alsa-driver-1.0.7rc2.tar.bz2" ... when i am trying to compile this with gzip2 then i got the message like gzip2 command not found... I would really appreciate if U help me how to compile this file(XXXXXXXXX.tar.bz2)
MY OS was Redhat Linux Enterprise Linux Advance Server 3.0
Is this file i supported to this LAS 3.0
if not then please mention which version of alsa driver is supported for LAS 3.0
