reg: fuser & umount filesystem problem

Hi

in mysystem two oracle instance are running with oracle apps. i had two identical mount points for the oracle apps dir, like as follows.

/inst1/applmgr/
/inst2/applmgr/

i want to stop the sencond instance. all are stopped. When i try to unmount the /inst2/applmgr -> it shows devices is busy.

when i use the fuser -mvu /inst2/applmgr --> it shows lots of java process in the 1st instance user. all fuser o/p says only file access like .f...

my doupt is, what is the meaning for fuser access parameters. if it "f", can i goahead do unmount by using lazy option.

note: i am use redhat 4As.

Thanks for response in advance.

Processes can be killed with fuser -k (directory). Is that what you were looking for?

no..

if u give fuser -k ...it will kill that process and we can unmount.

I want to know fuser access parameters. like "f", "c", "e", "m", etc...

in what state, i can directly use umount -l /inst2/applmgr". this command should not affect any of processes for instance inst1.

any idea !

Have a look and check chapter 3 for all options that can be used with fuser:
