Refreshing /dev lists of devices

I added this question here since it's kinda more related to S/W then H/W
but it all depends on H/W :p

I added a SATA disk in Fedora 12 but it doesn't show up in the udev list.
Done some googling and most says: 'udevadm trigger' but that won't work.
If I reboot it pops up but is that really the only way?
If I pop the disk in the RAID card it works, but not in the M/B's SATA port,
can it be that the BIOS haven't seen it at boot time?

On my asus mobo I can enable or disable drives are you sure that it's enabled.
Also fedora 12 is unsupported.

Nope that "disable" thing it not in affect and since a reboot makes it pop up in the list.
I'm trying to move my boot disk to a new one since I'm starting to have bad blocks
and after that upgrade to F14, that's the two reason why I'm doing this :p

I also just found out, after the reboot that if i FDISK'd and removed all partitions, the /dev still seems them all.

A var weird thing happened.
I put an old disk in there that had also has an old Fedora installation.
The '/' and '/data' (my own) was mounted in THIS disk but the other, like /boot was from the original disk.
No wonder I couldn't get the /dev correct.
I removed all partitions(on the "new" HDD), rebooted and the system was using the correct disk again, after that I could see the partitions changing in /dev when using parted/fdisk.
Haven't tried to remove it, reboot and reattach it when running and see if that worked..... yet :p
