Reduce font list in OpenOffice.org

In my default Ubuntu install of OpenOffice.org, there are hundreds of fonts, most of which are for other languages. While I don't want to uninstall these fonts, because they are used by other programs, such as Firefox, it is hard to select a font in OpenOffice.org because there are so many. How does OpenOffice.org choose where to get its fonts and can I customize the list of fonts that it uses to only use the ones I want?

Perhaps you can use
Code:
spadmin
to remove the fonts you don't want from openoffice
