Redhat RPM probs

I am a relative newbie, doing my best to learn Linux. I have been trying to slowly upgrade my box to the latest software. Been using Redhat Package Manager w/ limited success. Tried to install newer versions of Mozilla but dependancies were killing me. rpm -e didn't work to uninstall dependancies. So I downloaded Ximian and used it to uninstall the apps that Package Manager said were dependant on Mozilla. Installed Mozilla using Ximian and it didn't work. Just flashed the Mozilla symbol and nothing. Installed Mozilla 0.9.6 using Package Manager and it works now but I can't sign in to any of my lail accounts. Anyone who could help this dumbass newbie would be greatly appreciated.

Redhat probs

I meant to say above that I can't check email now. Anyone experienced in Linux, I would greatly appreciate someone who could act as a mentor over email.

Havent got any answers to Ximina/Mozilla question but for a workaround in the meantime, if its local mail (eg on your box) try pine, if its web-based mail try Lynx.

IIRC, some other (prolly Gnome) apps could be depending on these Mozilla libraries, so unless you force the install it won't work. Forcing it *will* break some other apps youve got to upgrade as well.
If unclear you could always post your dependancies, it could make answering easier for people.

I don't use Mozilla for mail, but i do seem to recall that the mail and news thing is actually in another package, that has to be installed. Isn't that right, somebody? And, I also think redhat still includes netscape as a default, and it certainly does do email. Very easy to set up, have it running in nothing flat.

Wiped the install, distro help?

I wiped my MBr while doing a clean install of XP Pro (yes, XP crashes) while troublshooting XP Pro. Have no idea how to recover my MBR to dual boot. So I guess I will try starting over w/ a clean Redhat 7.2 install. If I had some more advice, I would consider trying another distro but I need to be able to dual boot to XP right away. Sorry, i didn't post the dependancies earlier but they were mostly galeon and Mozilla addons. When I mentioned emailproblems, I meant I can't sign in to my military https account and Hotmail.
My system setup:
Athlon 1.33
512 SDRAM
ATI Radeon 32 meg DDR
40 gig drive for XP Pro
30 gig drive for Linux
SBLive! 5.1

The thing i did was to download all the mozilla rpm's for RedHat 7.x

And the galeon rpm from the gnome homepage

Then copy them all in to one directory.

then give the command:
rpm -Uvh *.rpm

And then mozilla was installed .

Thats how it goes at my pc and some others.

Hope this helped
