redhat 9 -kernel panic (system not booting) on p4 2.66 ghz
i have tried to install rh9 on
intel pentium 4 2.66 ghz,via p4m800ce,AGP 3.0, DDR ram 512 mb,xp professional sp-2 installation of rh9 is smooth but a error message regarding /boot. that /boot partition is not constraints .a boot disk is hifhly recommended. after installation on booting rh9 does not starts.and a error message displays. CPU:0 EIP:0060:[<0101AB2C>] Not tainted EFLAGS:00010002 EIP is disable_irq [Kernel] 0x4c (2.4.20-8) code :ff 50 10 eb do eb od 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 <0> Kernel panic : Attempted to kill init ! please suggest solution for the problem so that i can install rh9. |
Oh good lord. Install fedorah or something else NOT discontinued 4 years ago. Obvoiusly a distro that old is gonna have issues.

In all honesty RH9 was discontinued in 2004, and has not been supported for years (hence the comment in my sig block)
Please consider choosing a current, supported distro instead. |
