can anyone explain to me why my mp3s won't play? xmms popped up a note saying it doesn't support mp3 anymore but with noatun and kaboodle nothing happens.. the program pops up but doesn't do anything i use redhat 9 i just installed it like an hour ago and so far it sucks really really bad
i'm on kde if that helps anyone to help me.. |
Go to the xmms site and download the mp3 plugin
|
whats up with noatun and kaboodle tho? do they need plugins as well or is it one plugin for all?

ok i got that plugin you mentioned and went to install it now the installer is frozen
i can't find what it is in kpm to kill it got any ideas? |
You can download mp3 support by downloading mpg123 here: http://havardk.xmms.org/dist/xmms-1.2.7-rh8-rh9-rpm/
|
i got that already but like i said i went to install it and the installer froze up on me.. does anyone know what it would be under in kpm or top?
|
Find the pid with ps -aux and then kill it with the kill command, kill -9 <pid>
How are you installing the plugin? Try installing from the command line like this: rpm -ivh packagename.0-0.rpm |
ok well i got that thing killed and the rpm was installed but the mp3s are buzzing so bad almost like my speakers are blown but i know they are not blown because they sounded perfect before i installed redhat 9
i use the soundcard on my motherboard do you think it could be a hardware issue? i have a cheap soundcard in my drawer but i don't know if installing it will make a difference.. any comments? |
Check your default sound levels...
