Go to the xmms site and download the mp3 plugin

trickykid 06-14-2003 01:31 AM

You can download mp3 support by downloading mpg123 here: http://havardk.xmms.org/dist/xmms-1.2.7-rh8-rh9-rpm/

i_is_cat 06-14-2003 01:32 AM

i got that already but like i said i went to install it and the installer froze up on me.. does anyone know what it would be under in kpm or top?

Find the pid with ps -aux and then kill it with the kill command, kill -9 <pid>

How are you installing the plugin?

Try installing from the command line like this:

rpm -ivh packagename.0-0.rpm

ok well i got that thing killed and the rpm was installed but the mp3s are buzzing so bad almost like my speakers are blown but i know they are not blown because they sounded perfect before i installed redhat 9
i use the soundcard on my motherboard do you think it could be a hardware issue? i have a cheap soundcard in my drawer but i don't know if installing it will make a difference.. any comments?

Check your default sound levels...

ok now i reinstalled redhat 9 and installed that plugin for xmms again and it WAS working fine but now it just stopped
i click on an mp3 and it opens but does nothing

i_is_cat 06-14-2003 06:41 PM

ok actually i looked at the preferences and everything and it said the plugin was correctly installed and what not but i changed the output plugin to a different one in the list and it works YaY! :D now i just gotta get mplayer :/
