I've been trying to get ViaVoice to work on my PC. I have
2.50 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor
Red Hat Linux 8.0
j2re-1.4.1-01-linux-i586-gcc3.2.bin // Java run-time environment
j2sdk-1.4.1-01-linux-i586-gcc3.2.bin // Java software development kit
lesstif-0.93.91-1.i386.rpm // Lesstif binary
lesstif-mwm-0.93.91-1.i386.rpm // Lesstif window manager
lesstif-clients-0.93.91-1.i386.rpm // Lesstif clients
ViaVoice_runtime-3.0-1.2.i386.rpm // ViaVoice run-time
I was able to get all of these packages to install. When I tried to run the
vvstartaudiosetup program, it runs and then spits out a whole bunch of errors
like the following:
Warning:
Name: Text
Class: XmTextField
Character '\150' not supported in font. Discarded.
Where each warning message has a different value for the character that is not
supported in the font. After these error messages, then the GUI loads and all
of the XmTextFields look garbled and I can't enter any values in them.
I thought that maybe I needed to have the Motif Window Manager running in order to
run this program, but I tried this and I still got the same result. Does anyone
have any ideas on this? Thanks.
Sincerely,
Andrew R. Hoople
