RedHat 7.2 on Digital PWS 500au
I have a Digital PWS 500au running Tru64Unix and I want to install RedHat alpha 7.2
I have downloaded the iso images of the redHat CDs and burn them (using Nero under Windows).
I should be able to boot my machine from Disc 1 but when I do so :
>>> boot DKA0 -flags 0
It starts fine reading the bootstrap code :
>>> Block 0 of DKA0 is a valid boot block
but soon after it crash with a bootstrap failure. I have the feeling maybe it cannot start loading the kernel ...
I was wandering if I have to add some flags to the boot command such as the root device or the explicit name of the kernel file.
Another thing (which is closely related), when I want to create a boot image on a floppy, I boot Tru64Unix, mount the RedHat cd 1 and issue :
# dd if=<image-file> of=/dev/fd0c bs=72k
But if I try to boot from the floppy :
>>> boot DVA0 -flags 0
it seems to be non-bootable because I get
>>> Block 0 of DVA0 is not a valid boot block
>>> Bootstrap failure
Is it the right way of creating a bootable floppy usind dd ?
Thanks
Romain
