Redhat 7.2 installed with kernel panic in boot up
I've been trying unsuccessfully to get redhat 7.2 to work. I made a default installation with everything. When I booted up I got kernel panics at inconsistent times. One time I actually got to the login, but when I typed a letter I got a kernel panic. I tried passing options like "mem=nopentium" and "x86_serial_nr=1" but nothing changed. Always inconsistent kernel panics. I installed 6.2 and had to add the x86_serial_nr=1 but then it worked. So I'm pretty sure it isn't a hardware problem. I have an AMD 1.4 GHz, an abit kt7a motherboard (its not the raid) and a plextor cd-rw (I mention that because that adds the option hdc=ide-scsi). Does anyone know how to get redhat 7.2 to boot on such a system? Thanks.
