Currently I have windows ME, but want to install Redhat. I have two hard drives, but would like to put redhat on C: and then reinstall ME on C: also. What would be the best way to install my system and keep everything I need on my D: drive. I already tried automatic partitioning, but it had a problem with the FAT sectors already on the C: Drive, so I assume I need to wipe it all out.
Back up your files & favorites on Windows
Defrag & scandisk thorough
Run fips.exe from CD1
Shrink Windows partition & create 2GB+ Linux partition
Install Linux on the new partition using Disk Druid
Mount it as / and format it there
No swap if you have 128MB+ RAM
Install lilo/grub on MBR
Reboot
Where might I find a more step-by-step resource for doing this? Redhat's site seemed to be a little unclear, and so I thought I may need to buy the professional version with phone help.
Should I maybe remove ME and then reinstall to my second hard drive, format my first drive, and then install linux to my primary? Or should I stick to the main method?
Distribution: FreeBSD, OBSD maybe Gentoo and Winblech XP

Rep:
I was actually kiddin abiout switching the drives
Guess
hda=C: is 20M has ME and is 80% full
hda=D: is 60M is empty but you want MorE space for ME, but would also like to run linux
the actual sizes are arbitrary
Why not partition 20M for linux and leave the rest FAT FAT32 VFAT or whatever.
As for knowing were to load from
you are going to be using a loader to tell the puter where to get the OS du jour.
